Tire Makers Race to Fill the 32 mm and 32-Inch Gap

Two major tire brands are independently expanding into wider formats at the same time. Schwalbe will bring its proven G-One RS and RX Pro gravel treads to the new 32-inch wheel standard in 50 mm and 55 mm widths, available April 2027. Continental, meanwhile, is adding a 32 mm road variant to its Grand Prix line right now, rounding out a portfolio that previously stopped at 30 mm. Together the moves confirm that wider tire formats — across both gravel and road — are no longer niche requests but a mainstream trade priority.

  • Schwalbe enters 32-inch gravel in April 2027, backed by Unbound XL race validation.
  • Continental ships Grand Prix 32 mm immediately, closing the gap above 30 mm.
  • Both launches give retailers and distributors new upsell options in premium tire segments.
